Rock Band Program

Jazz Band

Classical training. Rock energy.

The rock band program  reflecting a philosophy that classical and rock training are complementary rather than opposed: both demand discipline, timing, and technical command, and research on music education consistently shows that active, engaged training builds cognitive and musical skills regardless of genre. Grounding young rock musicians in reading, rhythm, and theory gives them the same foundation that supports every other program at the conservatory. Students also build a deeper, firsthand understanding of pop music across genres - from pop rock and synth-pop to dance-pop, indie pop, and pop punk - by actually playing it. Learning the mechanics behind a song is a different kind of comprehension than simply listening to it, and that hands-on fluency carries over into how students approach every style they study.

Young Rock Stars — Ages 6-9 | 8-Week Program

Big music. Little legends. Little Stars is our 8-week music program designed just for children ages 6–9 — and it is pure magic from Week 1 to Week 8.

Every week your child gets one fun-packed 30-minute class where they pick up their instrument, join their very own band family, and learn something real. Week by week, the skills build: first it’s keeping a steady beat, then it’s playing loud and soft like a lion and a mouse, then it’s connecting a verse to a chorus, then it’s performing BOTH songs on a real stage at the Week 8 Family Showcase.

Our instructors speak 6-year-old AND 9-year-old fluently — everything is taught through games, movement, and celebration, never through boring drills or confusing music jargon. Your child goes home every single week with a practice card, a new skill, and a story to tell. Eight weeks. Thirty minutes. One stage.

Every child a star.   Visit Small Groups Programs page for schedule and registration

Rock Stars — Ages 9–13 | 8-Week Program

Eight weeks. Thirty minutes a class. Two songs performed live.

That’s the Rock Stars 8-week program — and it is the most fun your 9 to 13 year old will have with an instrument in their hands.

Every week builds on the last:

Week 1 they find their sound and meet their band.

Week 2 they lock into a groove.

Week 3 they discover dynamics — soft like a secret, loud like a parade.

By Week 5 they’re playing BOTH songs back-to-back like a real setlist.

By Week 6 they’re improvising and writing.

By Week 7 they’re in full dress rehearsal.

And Week 8? Week 8 is the Family Showcase — a real performance, real stage, real audience.

Beginners and experienced players are equally challenged and celebrated every single step of the way. Weekly take-home practice cards, parent email updates, and a clear skills milestone path keep the momentum going between sessions. This is 30 minutes a week that changes everything.
