Summer Jazz on Cardinal Square at Java Groove!
Evergreen Music and Performing Arts, in partnership with Evergreen Conservatory of Music, is proud to announce Summer Jazz on Cardinal Square at Java Groove - a free, multigenerational jazz series where young musicians and seasoned professionals share the same stage, in the same neighborhood, all summer long. This is not a recital. This is a real gig. The kind where generations meet, where the masters pass something down, and where the audience walks away feeling like they witnessed something they’ll remember.
We are now seeking musicians of all ages and all instruments to perform in this series. Whether you are a young player ready for your first real stage, or an experienced musician who wants to mentor the next generation - this is your invitation. "A few years ago, something magical happened on Cardinal Square. World-class drummer Jim Christie - one of the teachers at Evergreen Conservatory of Music - sat down at the congas. His son Ryder took the drum kit beside him. And right in front of Java Groove, under the open sky, a father and son played jazz together the way it was always meant to be heard - live, spontaneous, and shared with anyone who happened to walk by.
My own son Karl was on keys that afternoon. And as I watched two generations of Christies play side by side, with Karl finding his place in that music, I understood exactly what we needed to build.
This summer, we are bringing it back."
