9-11 a.m. Beginners Actors - I have never auditioned before and I need help finding both an audition song and monologue
11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Experienced Actors - I have auditioned multiple times and already have an audition song and monologue. I want to take my audition technique to the next level by perfecting my warm ups, acting skills, dance skills, and singing technique.
15 minute body warm up; roll downs, hamstring stretches, breathing exercises, child’s pose (warm ups that you can do in the lobby that won’t take up too much space);
30 minutes monologue workshop: how to prepare a monologue: have you read it with another person, who are you talking to, what happened before and after the monologue, how to search for changes in intention; monologue exercises: throw the ball, “change it”, other actor moving around the space, will have a student come up and demonstrate these activities
15 minute vocal workshop: vocal warmups; straw exercise, scales, diaphragm exercises, tongue warm ups, releasing jaw tension (similar to the body warm ups but these vocal warm ups shouldn’t be too loud) how to properly belt, how to convey emotion through song, having a beginning middle and end to your 16 bar cut
Review wardrobe: no jeans, proper shoes, black socks for boys, appropriate length for girls;
how to slate: will do a detailed demonstration then everyone will get up and do it one at a time
5 minute break
30 minutes mock audition: one at a time everyone will get up and perform a 16 bar cut of a song and a 2 minute monologue, notes will be given in time so that class can learn (may take longer but I don’t think everything else will take as long)
Would like to do 30 minutes basic dance moves; grape vines, box steps, how to spot, how to improve; (will cut depending on time)
